He was also a brave and decorated Veteran of the US Army Reserve serving 7 years from 1961 to 1968 with two tours of active duty in 1961.. He later pursued his dream to be a a Volunteer fireman in North Seattle while employed as an electronics technician for Sun Electric corporation until 1970. He then joined Washington Natural Gas working on the street crews as a welder. He always had a gift with his hands and keen engineering mind earning the license of HVAC Service technician and Electrician along with many awards for meritorious service to the people of Seattle and outlying areas. Working over 30 years for Puget Sound Energy as a loyal Union Brother in Local 32 Seattle, his absence will be felt by the many customers he kept warm and cool in seasons past with his skill and endearing personality. Russ enjoyed the outdoors and spent most of his life camping, boating and motorcycling with his children and grandchildren teaching them his love for nature. He spent much time in his shop designing and creating handy gadgets demonstrating his years as a mechanic and welder. He left behind his favorite Cats Blackie and Tiger. Russell Talley left us all with fond memories of fun and loving times and taught many of us how to never give into life’s hardest times without a smile and a good fight.
